John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado that specialized in folk music, touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., born Henry John Deutschendorf in Roswell near New Mexico, was in Love with Colorado. He settled in Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his new state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame said: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver became the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver is today Colorado's international image. Through my many travels, I've met a lot of people who are not from Colorado. They'll say, "Oh John Denver!" when they hear that you are from Colorado. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit after he performed with small folk music bands. It was co-written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver recognized that the song could become a smash hit when he heard an earlier version. The track was released just two weeks following it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
